Backlight was the parent company to several products in the FilmTech space. As Creative Director I helped define the brand but also helped scale up the visual design of the individual products and features; as a direct response to competitors in the space.
Challenge
A visually disjointed tech stack that spanned four countries and was comprised of acquired tech startups with varying processes and design systems. Which translated to lack of faith in the product and confusion over what the company actually does.
My Role
I joined Backlight as Creative Director but exercised my experience as Product Design Director in several instances to help make the product more user and marketing friendly. This included liaising with the existing product design team but also communicating to international engineers.
Outcome
An updated visual design that helped boost sales and unify the brand further. Consistency between products allowed for future mergers and absorptions of tech into one another, while standing out from competitors. At this point increasing sales in Backlight and it's products by a steady 15% per quarter.
